This cookie policy (this "Cookie Policy") is designed to inform you about our use of cookies, local storage objects and similar technologies on our websites, chubkins.app and its invite pages at invite.chubkins.app. The Chubkins mobile app does not use cookies; how it uses device identifiers is described in our Privacy Policy. This Cookie Policy is part of our Privacy Policy, which also includes additional details about our collection and use of information. Capitalized terms used in this Cookie Policy but not defined have the same meaning as in our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies and similar technologies?#

Cookies are small data files that are downloaded to your device when you visit a website or application. When you return to the website, or another website that recognizes that cookie, the cookie is sent to that site to enhance your experience by remembering your preferences, providing tailored advertising, helping you navigate more efficiently or keeping you logged in. Local storage works in a similar way, but the data stays in your browser and is not sent with every request.

The Chubkins website may use similar technologies to cookies, including pixel tags, web beacons and server logs to understand how you are using our website and provide adverts tailored to you and your interests. These technologies often take the form of a small, transparent graphic images placed on a web page or in an email. They work with cookies and capture data like your IP address, when you viewed the page or email and what device you were using. Where we use web beacons in the emails we send to you, including marketing emails, these are used to enable us to assess the level of engagement our emails receive by measuring information such as the delivery rates, open rates and click through rates which our emails achieve.

What types of cookies does Chubkins use?#

We use three types of cookies, the same three you can choose from in our cookie banner. Analytics and marketing cookies are off until you allow them on chubkins.app.

Strictly necessary cookies#

These are required for the operation of our website. They remember your cookie choices and, on our invite pages, keep you signed in while you accept an invite. They are always on.

Analytics cookies#

These allow us to recognize and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily. We use Google Analytics for this.

Marketing cookies#

These cookies record your visit to our website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. We use this information to measure our advertising and to make the advertising we show on other sites and apps more relevant to your interests. Our advertising partners (Google, Meta and TikTok) set these cookies and receive this information for this purpose. We only use them on chubkins.app, not on our invite pages.

• understand the profile of the users of the Chubkins website;
• make our Chubkins website as convenient as possible, for example by keeping you signed in on our invite pages;

• determine which email messages, including marketing emails, were opened, whether you clicked on any links and interacted with the content and to optimize your email experience;
• analyze information such as your IP address, approximate location (country, state or province, and city), browser and device type, the pages you visit, and the identifiers set by our advertising partners (Meta click and browser IDs, TikTok click ID and Google click ID), for internal business purposes, such as generating statistics and developing marketing plans, to improve our services and products, the Chubkins website and content.

We may also use cookies for tailored advertising purposes. For example, we, or with third party vendors, may use your information to provide you with tailored advertising on third party sites, including social media sites. These advertisements are either: (i) "contextual" (meaning they are presented due to the webpage that you are viewing); or (ii) "behavioral advertising" or "interest-based advertising" (i.e. where advertisements are shown to you based upon your interests which we have inferred from your information including demographic, geographic and interest-based data). Some U.S. state laws treat this as "selling" or "sharing" personal information; see "How to manage your cookies preferences" below to opt out.

We may use tailored advertising to specifically include or exclude people who already play Chubkins.

When you sign in on our invite pages with Google or Apple, or follow a link from our website to a social site, that service may use cookies and similar technologies to collect data about user behavior for its own purposes. This use of cookies is in line with that third party's own cookie policy, over which we have no control.

How to manage your cookies preferences and opt out of cookies?#

We have set out below the ways you can manage your cookie preferences and opt out of cookies on your browser and your mobile device. You are welcome to block the use of some or all of the cookies and similar technologies we use on our website. However, please be aware that doing so may impair some features and/or services on our website and its functionality or may even render some or all of it unusable.

You should also be aware that clearing all cookies and site data from your browser will also delete your saved cookie choices, so you will be asked again.

Cookies Preference Center#

When you first visit chubkins.app, our cookie banner lets you accept all, reject all, or choose analytics and marketing cookies separately. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. The "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link turns marketing cookies off. We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to turn marketing cookies off.

On our invite pages, a banner lets you allow or decline Google Analytics. In some regions analytics runs until you decline it, and in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it stays off unless you allow it. Advertising cookies are never used on the invite pages.

Browser settings#

You can accept or reject some or all cookies (for example, blocking all third party cookies) by adjusting your browser settings. Most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to be notified when you receive a new cookie, and how to disable existing cookies. However, please be aware that when you disable cookies, some features and services on the Chubkins website may not function properly and may cancel opt-outs that rely on cookies, such as web analytics.

Some browsers, such as Chrome and Firefox, allow you to change your settings to browse in 'incognito' mode, limiting the amount of data placed on your machine and automatically deleting any persistent cookies placed on your device when you finish your browsing session.

Existing cookies#

To clear cookies that have previously been placed on your browser, you should select the option to clear your browsing history and ensure that the option to delete or clear cookies is included when you do so.

Web beacons#

By setting your email account to display emails as text only, you may be able to prevent the use of some web beacons, however please be aware that our emails won't look as pretty and some functionality may be disabled. Alternatively, you can remove yourself completely from our mailing list by going to the bottom of any email from us and clicking on the relevant 'unsubscribe' link in the emails you receive or by contacting us using the details found in the section "How do I contact Chubkins?".

Does this Cookie Policy ever change?#

We may update or modify this Cookie Policy from time to time in response to changing legal, technical or business developments. We will obtain your consent to any material Cookie Policy changes if and where this is required by applicable data protection laws. The date of the most recent version of this Cookie Policy will appear at the top of the page.

When we update our Cookie Policy, we will take appropriate measures to inform you, consistent with the significance of the changes we make. For example, we will notify you of any changes to this Cookie Policy by posting a new Cookie Policy and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
